Autodesk Revit: Fundamentals for Electrical

The Autodesk Revit: Fundamentals for Electrical course has been designed to teach the concepts and principles of creating 3D parametric models of Electrical system from engineering design through construction documentation to take full advantage of Building Information Modeling.

This training course is intended to introduce users to the software’s user interface and the basic electrical components that brand the Autodesk Revit software a powerful and flexible engineering modeling tool. The course will also familiarize users with the tools required to create, document, and print the parametric model. Through the duration of the course, the examples and practices are designed to take the users through the basics of an electrical project from linking in an architectural model to populating construction documents.

You will be using the Autodesk Revit: Fundamentals for MEP learning guide for this course. A syllabus has been provided in the Learning Guide Contents section that details which chapters the instructor will be using. The guide contains practices for all disciplines, but this course will focus on the ones specific to the electrical discipline.

Topics Covered in this Autodesk Revit Training Course:
  • Introduction to Autodesk Revit software, including navigating the Revit Interface.
  • Starting an MEP project based on a linked architectural model and creating levels and grids as datum element for the model.
  • Understanding the project browser and working with views.
  • Understanding Revit families and components.
  • Working with the basic sketching and modifying tools.
  • Copying and monitoring elements and coordinating linked models.
  • Creating spaces for calculating light levels.
  • Connecting and testing basic systems.
  • Add light fixtures, electrical equipment, and devices.
  • Create cable trays and conduits.
  • Creating and modifying electrical circuits.
