Autodesk Inventor CAM: Introduction to 2D Milling

The Autodesk Inventor CAM: Introduction to 2D Milling training course will instruct new users on how to use the Inventor CAM add-on to create 2D milling toolpath (3D milling toolpaths are not covered in this course). The course begins with a brief introduction to the Inventor interface and including how to manipulate your 3D model views. Through hands-on, practice-based curriculum, you will learn the key skills to, set up a 3D model in the CAM environment, and create the 2D milling toolpaths needed to generate the CNC code required by milling machines.

Topics Covered in this Autodesk Inventor Training Course:
  • Navigate the Inventor user interface to locate and execute commands.
  • Learn commands to pan, zoom, and rotate a model.
  • Assign visual styles to your models for fast view repeatability.
  • Find, create, and modify tools in the Tool Library.
  • Create machining operation Set-ups using Inventor CAM.
  • Create 2D Milling toolpaths using the Inventor CAM interface.
  • Use the Simulation commands to visualize toolpaths and machine operations.
  • Import a tool library.
  • Create a toolpath template.
  • Learn to post process an Inventor CAM setup to output the CNC code required to machine a model.
Prerequisites for this Autodesk Inventor Training Course:
  • As an introductory course, Autodesk Inventor CAM: Introduction to 2D Milling does not assume prior knowledge of Autodesk Inventor CAM. The Autodesk Inventor CAM: Introduction to 2D Milling course’s focus is solely on generating 2D milling toolpaths using models that have been designed and provided for use in the course. If you require instruction on 3D Milling, consider taking the Autodesk Inventor CAM: Introduction to 2D and 3D Milling Fundamentals course. If you require instruction on how to create 3D models using the Inventor modeling tools, consider either the Autodesk Inventor: Introduction to Solid Modeling or Autodesk Inventor: Fundamentals for CAM Users courses.
  • It is recommended that users have prior experience with the Windows operating system, knowledge of 3D model creation/modification, and general understanding of the CNC milling process.
