AutoCAD Map 3D for Autodesk Civil 3D Users

This AutoCAD Map 3D training course covers the fundamental topics of the AutoCAD Map 3D software. It will also introduce users to drawing-based and geospatial features within the AutoCAD Map 3D software. Users will learn about features and functions of the AutoCAD Map 3D software, including how to create, manage, and map data. This training course is useful for GIS experts as well as Autodesk Civil 3D users working with terrain files, image data, and GIS data files such as SHP files.

Note for Autodesk Civil 3D Users: GIS data is being used more often in the Civil design process. This GIS data can be used with the AutoCAD Map 3D functionality that is built inside of the Autodesk Civil 3D software. This class will introduce Autodesk Civil 3D users to many AutoCAD Map 3D features that will enhance their design process.

  • Understand the AutoCAD Map 3D user interface.
  • Create and edit mapping geometry.
  • Create and assign attribute data associated with SHP files and similar GIS file types.
  • Import and export drawing-based data including SHP file data.
  • Connect and edit geospatial features, such as SHP, SDF, and MDB files.
  • Adjust styles for connected Geospatial Features, such as display of existing sewer lines or parcel linework.
  • Work with Aerial imagery.
  • Review Source drawing functionality.
  • Create Map Books and plot maps.
Prerequisites for this AutoCAD Map 3D training course:
  • Experience with AutoCAD or AutoCAD-based products and a sound understanding and knowledge of Mapping and GIS terminology.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft® Windows® software.
